Ball Bearings

Ball Bearings

A ball bearing is a term referring to a type of machine tool bearing which utilizes steel balls to maintain the separation between the moving parts of the bearing. The purpose of a ball bearing is to reduce rotational friction and support load. Deep groove ball bearings, also known as radial ball bearings, are used in a variety of applications. They are the most popular of all rolling bearings, capable of very high speeds and available in a wide array of sizes. Ball Bearings utilize point contact to reduce friction and are available in many styles. These include single row ball bearings, self-aligning ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings and double row ball bearings.

Ball bearings are offered with many performance enhancing options, such as with metal shields or rubber seals to minimize contamination and retain lubrication. Compared to other bearing types, the ball bearing is the least expensive, primarily because of the low cost of producing the balls used in the bearing. Bearing Service Inc. represents numerous ball bearing manufacturers and maintains stock at each branch location as well as our distribution center.
