Rod Ends

Precision Bearings:

High precision bearings are utilized in applications where superior accuracy, reliability of operation, high running speeds, long life, rigidity and limiting of noise and vibration are critical.  High precision bearings are utilized on machine tools, such as turning centers, milling, grinders, machining centers and to support ball screws.  Other precision bearing applications include aircraft, medical equipment and robotics. The chart below details how bearings are rated and the corresponding precisions.  There are two major precision bearing ratings organizations.  ABEC, which stands for Annular Bearings Engineer Committee, which determines standards for the AFBMA, Anti-Friction Bearing Manufacturers association, and ISO or InternatRod Ends:

Rod Ends are bearing units that combine a spherical plane bushing mounted in a housing, with either a male or female threaded shank.  Rod ends are utilized primarily at the ends of piston rods or to join a cylinder to associated components.  Rod ends can be male or female, and threaded either left or right handed.  Available in a wide array of designs, rod ends are offered as standard product in both inch and metric dimensions.  Available inch standard sizes range from 1/8” bore to 2”, with threads from 6-32 to 2”-12.  Standard metric rod ends range from 3mm to 30 mm bores.  Features and benefits of rod ends can differ between manufacturers.  Design differences include material utilized, lubrication methods and locations, housing strength and thread strength.

Bearing Service stocks many common rod ends. Please contact Bearing Service to assist in locating the right rod end for your application.
