Grease Fittings

In order to allow for relubrication of equipment or bearings, a variety of grease fittings are available to mate with a standard grease gun coupler.

When ordering the appropriate style of grease fitting, the following information should be provided:

  • Thread style – tapered or straight
  • Thread size – 1/4”-28; 1/8” PTF; 1/4” PTF; metric; no thread (drive fitting)
  • Thread length
  • Ball check – spring loaded ball for maintaining pressure & dirt exclusion
  • Angle of ball to shank – straight; 30, 45, 90 degrees
  • Material – steel, stainless, or monel
  • Special styles – Button head; relief; flush type; air vents; plugs

Factors in proper fitting selection include:

  • Contamination exposure
  • Internal pressure required
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Housing aperature – threaded or drilled
  • Accessibility

Grease fittings are relatively inexpensive accessories and as such are typically sold in small packs rather than individual pieces.
